Bharat Electronics Limited Secures Rs. 5900 Crore Orders in FY 2023-24
Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a leading defense electronics company, has announced that it has received orders worth Rs. 5900 Crore in the financial year 2023-24.
One of the major orders received by BEL is for the enhancement and procurement of 2 Regiments of Improved Akash Weapon System (AWS) from BDL (Bharat Dynamics Limited), valued at Rs. 3914 Crore.
The Akash Weapon System (AWS) is an advanced, all-weather, point/area air-defense system designed to protect vulnerable areas from threats originating from low, medium, and high altitudes. The system is known for its high mobility, making it suitable for various mobile applications.
The upgrades incorporated in the AWS include improved high altitude operation, the capability to engage multiple threats simultaneously in a 360-degree range, missiles equipped with RF Seeker technology, and a reduced footprint, ensuring more efficient and effective defense.
Apart from the AWS order, BEL has also secured several other significant orders. These include orders for Shakti EW & Sanket MK III (Naval Systems), GBMES & GBVU Com Jammer systems, MKBT systems, IFF-MKXII Crypto Modules, and the upgradation of SDP & Display of Rohini Radar. Additionally, BEL will be providing a training system for CMS P15B and undertaking the CAMC (Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract) of CMS for P 28, among other projects.
