State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has pledged Rs 100 crore to the PM CARES Fund, set up by the Indian government to support citizens during emergencies such as the ongoing surge of COVID-19 cases in the country. ONGC’s contribution aims to aid the government in strengthening healthcare infrastructure and combating both COVID-19 and H3N2 influenza viruses, according to a press release from the company.
ONGC had previously contributed Rs 300 crore to the PM CARES Fund during the first wave of the pandemic in April 2020. Last year, oil firms, including ONGC and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), donated over Rs 1,000 crore to the PM CARES Fund to assist in the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
