Reliance Consumer Products creates JV with 100-yr-old Sosyo Hajoori Beverages

Reliance Consumer Products Limited (RCPL), the FMCG division and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited (RRVL), announced that it will acquire a 50% equity stake in Sosyo Hajoori Beverages Private Limited (SHBPL), a Gujarat-based company that owns and operates the ‘Sosyo’ beverage brand. The Hajoori family, the current owners of SHBPL, will retain the remaining stake in the company.

Sosyo is a well-established Indian brand with a 100-year history in carbonated soft drinks (CSDSHBPL, run by Mr. Abbas Hajoori and his son Mr. Aliasgar Hajoori, offers a range of beverage brands, including Sosyo, Kashmira, Lemee, Ginlim, Runner, Opener, Hajoori Soda, and S’eau, with over 100 flavors developed through its strong formulation expertise. The Sosyo brand has a loyal customer base in Gujarat.

Commenting on the investment, Ms. Isha Ambani, Executive Director of Reliance Retail Ventures Limited, said, ‘This investment aligns with our goal of supporting local heritage brands and providing them with growth opportunities. RCPL’s goal is to provide Indian consumers with a range of domestically developed consumer brands and products that offer superior value. The company’s current brand portfolio includes the iconic beverage brand ‘Campa’ and the recently launched packaged consumer products brand ‘Independence.’ In addition, RCPL is building a dedicated retail distribution network for its growing consumer brands portfolio.

Through this joint venture, Reliance will expand its portfolio in the beverage sector, following its acquisition of the iconic brand Campa. Sosyo’s formulation expertise can also be utilized to create unique value for the product portfolio and consumers.

Shares of Reliance Industries Limited were last traded on the BSE at ₹ 2557.00, down from the previous close of ₹2575.15. A total of 136,124 shares were traded during the day in over 13,214 transactions.

The stock reached an intraday high of ₹ 2573.00 and an intraday low of ₹ 2548.05. The total value of shares traded during the day was ₹ 3,482,813,778.00.
