Yulu and Bajaj Auto team up to launch advanced electric 2-wheelers in India
Yulu, the Bengaluru-based electric mobility platform, has joined hands with Bajaj Auto to introduce two new electric 2-wheelers (e2Ws) in India. The Miracle GR and DeX GR e-bikes promise greater operational efficiency, thereby improving Yulu’s overall financial metrics. Yulu’s AI-led technology stack powers the new e-bikes, which will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto in India.
The partnership between Yulu and Chetak Technology Ltd, a subsidiary of Bajaj Auto, is aimed at revolutionizing mobility through sustainable, shared, smart, and safe electric vehicles. Bajaj Auto, which already has a stake in Yulu, retails the Chetak electric scooter in the market. The company also helped localize and upgrade Yulu’s second-generation e-scooters and partly manufactured components.
Yulu claims that the new third-generation e-bikes are foolproof and fall-proof, and offer OTA support. They are trackable and offer easy manoeuvrability for both personal and commercial usage. Yulu plans to deploy around 1 lakh electric two-wheelers by October 2023.
The company also emphasized its collaboration with Magna for a battery-swapping network. Yulu and Magna have formed a joint venture called Yuma Energy, which offers ‘battery-as-a-service for electric two-wheelers. Magna invested $77 million to set up this joint venture in September 2022, and the service was launched on February 2, 2023.
Miracle GR: A game-changer in the electric 2-wheeler segment
S Ravikumar, the Chief Business Development Officer of Bajaj Auto Limited, has stated that Yulu is a vital component of Bajaj’s strategic priority to go electric. The Bengaluru-based electric mobility platform’s expertise in EV technology and market knowledge, along with Bajaj Auto’s strong R&D and manufacturing capabilities, is a potent force that is shaping the future of mobility in India.
Yulu has doubled its fleet in the last three months, and the company plans to put 1 lakh new electric vehicles on the road across major cities in India. By the end of the year, Yulu aims to achieve more than 10-fold growth in revenues.
The newly launched Miracle GR, manufactured by Bajaj Auto and powered by Yulu’s AI-led technology stack, promises higher operational efficiency, making it a game-changer in the electric 2-wheeler segment. Amit Gupta, the Co-founder and CEO of Yulu, is confident that this launch will reinforce the company’s position as a market leader in the shared mobility space, while fulfilling their commitment to sustainably solve the problems of traffic congestion and air pollution for daily commutes and last-mile deliveries.
DeX GR: A revolutionary electric 2-wheeler with smart dockless EV technology
Yulu, in partnership with Bajaj Auto, has launched two new electric 2-wheelers – Miracle GR and DeX GR – in India. The DeX GR is a game-changer in the electric 2-wheeler segment, featuring smart dockless EV technology, a goods carrier that can hold up to 15 kg, head and tail lights, and a maximum speed of 25 km per hour.
Yulu’s fleet operates on swappable batteries, which are powered by Yuma Energy. The battery swapping network has around 100 stations across Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi, and Yulu plans to increase these stations to 500 by 2024. Travellers can use the Yulu app to access and use e-bikes, without requiring a driving license or a helmet to ride the non-motorised bike.
To use the Yulu app, one can locate the nearest Yulu vehicle, pick a bike, and scan the QR code on the bike panel to unlock it. To end the ride, the user has to reach the Yulu zone to park and lock the bike and click ‘End’ on the app.
The launch of Miracle GR and DeX GR reinforces Yulu’s position as a market leader in the shared mobility space, committed to sustainably solving the problems of traffic congestion and air pollution for daily commutes and last-mile deliveries. With the support of Bajaj Auto and Yuma Energy, Yulu is transforming mobility through smart, shared, sustainable, and safe electric vehicles in India.
