Ashok Leyland secures Defence orders
Ashok Leyland, the top provider of logistical vehicles to the Indian Army and a flagship firm of the Hinduja Group, has achieved a remarkable feat by securing defence orders in the defence industry worth INR 800 crores. The contracts cover the purchase of the Gun Towing Vehicle (GTV 6×6) and Field Artillery Tractor (FAT 4×4).
The Artillery uses two specialised vehicles, the FAT 4×4 and GTV 6×6, to tow light and medium weapons, respectively. The Government of India’s original list of indigenous goods notably highlighted these automobiles. The fact that Ashok Leyland was chosen for these significant defence contracts demonstrates both its commitment to local production and its dependable relationship with the Indian Armed Forces.
Mr. Shenu Agarwal, Managing Director and CEO of Ashok Leyland, expressed his delight in obtaining these orders, saying, “We are incredibly happy to have obtained these orders from the Indian Army. Our expansion has been significantly fueled by the defence industry, and this victory further establishes our position as the market leader in defence mobility vehicles. It also shows how steadfastly we are committed to provide our military personnel cutting-edge mobility solutions. We are appreciative of the government of India’s confidence in Ashok Leyland and remain committed to helping the nation’s efforts at indigenization and self-reliance in the defence manufacturing industry.
According to Mr. Amandeep Singh, President of Ashok Leyland’s Defence Business, “Ashok Leyland’s dependable mobility solutions have consistently served as a valuable asset within the defence sector, meeting the varied needs of personnel and logistics across the armed forces. We take satisfaction in assisting our military with our goods and solutions as an example of “Atmanirbhar Bharat.” To meet the operating needs of the Indian Armed Forces, Ashok Leyland has invested in the development of a variety of mobility platforms, including 4×4, 6×6, 8×8, 10×10, and 12×12. Ashok Leyland conceived, developed, and produced these platforms domestically, significantly reducing the need for imports. As we prepare to mark our 75th anniversary in September of this year, this victory is very noteworthy.”
To fulfil the needs of the Indian Army, Ashok Leyland plans to meticulously deliver these cutting-edge vehicles over the course of the next 12 months. Ashok Leyland maintains its status as a reliable partner for the Indian Armed Forces because of its dedication to quality and innovation as well as its long-standing cooperation with the Indian Army for logistics support.
