Bajaj Auto September Sales: 2W domestic sales drop 9%, CV sales surge 60%

In a recent disclosure to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Bajaj Auto has reported its September 2023 sales figures. Despite some fluctuations in its performance, the company’s total vehicle sales for the month experienced a minor year-on-year (Y-o-Y) dip, declining by 1%, totaling 392,558 units, compared to 394,747 units sold in the same period last year.

Domestic Two-Wheeler (2W) Segment:

Bajaj Auto observed a noteworthy 9% Y-o-Y drop in its domestic two-wheeler sales for September 2023, with numbers falling from 222,912 units to 202,510 units. The exports of two-wheelers also saw a slight dip, slipping from 125,443 units in September 2022 to 125,202 units in September 2023.

Commercial Vehicle (CV) Segment:

In contrast, the domestic commercial vehicle sales for Bajaj Auto saw a remarkable surge of 60% Y-o-Y. In September 2023, the automaker successfully sold 50,683 units, compared to 31,752 units sold in September 2022. Nevertheless, the exports of commercial vehicles experienced a marginal 3% Y-o-Y decline for the same period.

Year-to-Date Performance:

Examining the cumulative sales for the ongoing financial year from April to September 2023, Bajaj Auto reported a total of 1,770,913 units of two-wheelers sold. This reflects a 5% decrease in year-to-date (YTD) sales when compared to the same period last year.

Total commercial vehicle sales, which encompass both domestic sales and exports, for the April to September period stood at 310,447 units. This represents an impressive 42% increase compared to the 218,466 units sold during the corresponding period last year.

Bajaj-Triumph Collaboration:

Bajaj Auto has been making waves with its strategic collaboration with the renowned British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph. Their joint venture has recently unveiled its inaugural product for the Indian market, the Speed 400, aggressively priced at Rs 2.33 lakh. Triumph has already received an overwhelming 15,000+ bookings for this exciting model. The Bajaj-Triumph collaboration aims to challenge the dominant market share of Royal Enfield in the 350–650 cc motorcycle segment.
