L&T Provides Diverse Components for Chandrayaan-3 Moon Mission
Larsen and Toubro (L&T), a leading multinational engineering and construction company, has successfully provided a range of components for India’s upcoming lunar mission, Chandrayaan-3. The company’s contribution to the mission includes crucial elements such as the “middle segment and nozzle bucket flange,” which were manufactured at L&T’s state-of-the-art facility in Powai. Additionally, the ground and flight umbilical plates were produced at L&T’s esteemed aerospace manufacturing facility located in Coimbatore.
AT Ramchandani, Executive Vice President and Head of L&T Defence expressed enthusiasm about the expanding opportunities in the Indian space sector. Ramchandani stated, “We have a longstanding partnership with ISRO, and as the space sector opens up for the Indian industry, we are poised to assume a larger role in future space programs.”
Remarkably, all the subsystems supplied by L&T were delivered ahead of schedule, further highlighting the company’s commitment to excellence.
L&T’s involvement in the Chandrayaan-3 mission is not its first foray into India’s ambitious space endeavors. The company has previously contributed to the production of various hardware components for notable missions such as Chandrayaan-1, Chandrayaan-2, Gaganyaan, and Mangalyaan, solidifying its reputation as a trusted partner to ISRO.
Chandrayaan-3, the third lunar mission by India, is scheduled for lift-off at 2:35 pm on July 14. This mission follows the unfortunate crash-landing of Chandrayaan-2 in September 2019, attributed to a software glitch.
