Patel Engineering bags Rs 1,265 crore worth of irrigation projects in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka
Mumbai-based infrastructure major, Patel Engineering, has secured two irrigation projects worth Rs 1,265 crore in Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka. As per the announcement made by the company, it has emerged as the lowest bidder for both the projects. The orders have been awarded by the Water Resources Department of Government of Madhya Pradesh and Visvesvaraya Jala Nigam.
As per the company statement, the majority of Patel Engineering’s order book consists of projects awarded by central and state governments, government undertakings, and public sector undertakings.
The Madhya Pradesh government has awarded a project worth Rs 999 crore for the construction of SHER Dams, including survey, investigation, designing, and construction, along with gravity main and pipe distribution network works. The Karnataka order, worth Rs 266 crore, is for the design, supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of a micro-irrigation system under Tumkur Branch Canal Package-III.
The Sher Irrigation Project is set to be completed in 60 months, and Patel Engineering will also be responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining it for an additional 60 months. The project will be executed in a joint venture, with Patel Engineering holding a 35% stake.
The Tumkur Branch Canal project is scheduled to be completed in 24 months, with Patel Engineering holding a 51% stake in the joint venture. After completion, the company will also undertake operations and maintenance work for a further 60 months.
Chairman and Managing Director of Patel Engineering Limited, Rupen Patel, expressed his delight on the achievement, saying, “With these two new L1 projects, our share of order wins including L1 in this financial year is around 5,900 crores.” Patel also added that the new projects will allow the company to deploy resources more efficiently.
