Bharat Electronics to produce Israel's LORA missile for Indian tri-forces

Bharat Electronics and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to produce and supply the Long Range Artillery Weapon System (LORA) to the Indian Tri-services. The advanced strategic weapon system will be manufactured by BEL, in partnership with IAI.

The signing took place at the Aero India 2023 event, currently taking place in Bengaluru. The agreement demonstrates the increasing cooperation between India and Israel in the area of high technology strategic defence systems. It also aligns with the Indian government’s “Make in India” program, which focuses on producing major weapon systems within the country.

LORA was developed by IAI’s ‘MALAM’ division and is a ground-to-ground and sea-to-ground system. It comprises a long-range ballistic missile, a unique launcher, a command and control system, and a ground/marine support system. The system is capable of providing ballistic assault capabilities for multiple ranges with a precision level of 10 metres CEP (circular error probable).

The MoU signed between BEL and IAI highlights the strong partnership between the two companies and their dedication to delivering cutting-edge technology to the Indian defence forces. With the successful implementation of the LORA system, India will be better equipped to protect its national security interests.
